Looking at the early years photo, I think I can fill in one of the unknowns, the person on my left is Jack Taylor I am pretty sure. It all seems very long ago now! I can remember winning the league and cup with the Wasps, can't remember the year but have still got the trophies somewhere. I will try to dig out some photos, I think they may be still at my parents house if I can find them after all this time.
Jack Taylor was Nick Taylor's younger brother, and yes there was a lot of Taylor's but not all related.
The one memory I have of Stan Gruchy was of him riding his Vespa with his dog in the footwell, and not sure if my memory is playing tricks but he also used to carry a bag of footballs somehow!!
I will have a dig around in the attic and see if any memorabilia surface.
Thanks for that info Neil and for those wonderful memories. MA

Glad to see the club still going strong nearly 30 years since i last pulled on the amber and black shirt!
Looking back we had a team for 3 or 4 years that consisted of a bunch of school mates, most of whom were quite lively(!). We trained at the St.Benets school pitch, and would play poor old Stan Gruchy up terrible, but somehow were quite successful so I like to think he had a soft spot for his team of reprobates. I have some great memories of that time, forever having to climb over the fence to retrieve the ball from the childrens home, ducking into the bushes when doing Stans obligatory 10 laps of the pitch(sneaking back on the last lap) and if you forgot your boots you were given a pair of boots from the caravan to wear that were more like winklepickers and nicknamed the crocodile boots. We had a great rivalry with Crown Youth from Lowestoft and can still hear the parents screaming on the touchline - they were nearly as unruly as us! And Stan's battle call of "Steak and Kidney boys!" I'm sure my parents have lots of old press cuttings and photos from that time and will try and dig em out and send them for you to add to your achive. From memory our team included the following: Jason Williams, Scott Marshall, Harvey Nicholls, Stephen Currie, Glen Turner,me, my brother Chris, Paul Wigg, David White, Turkey (Vincent ?), Ronnie Hogg, Matthew Plunkett, Kevin Carter, Colin ?, and Mark Lusted amongst others..
Good luck for the new season, and apologies for the Wembley bus incident!
Martin

Nice one Mark
I will see if i can dig any more old photo's out.
A Few memory's:
Simon Borrett was an awesome keeper, the best in league always thought he should have gone all the way.(Ipswich or Norwich)
Remember going to watch the England school boy international (i think 1981) and Lee Kin Man was sick all over me on the coach. Had to watch the game in a kagoll!!
We beat Earsham lads once 36-0 even our goalkeeper Jason Moore scored.
I can also remember defender Simon Gregson breaking his own goal keepers leg (my brother) Paul Soloman.
We only had one pitch and that was the one at St Benets School and we only played for the league, The Keith Ellwood Cup and William Hall Cup.
Also can remember Owen Hadridge being dropped because he turned up for training late one night because he wanted to watch Grange Hill instead!
Stan Gruchy used to drive his Vespa and have his dog Sally sit on the foot plate!
Me, my step dad (Mick Field) and Stan used to go sea fishing every Friday night at Kessingland. Stan used to be able to cast for miles. He caught a 5lb Cod once i thought it was a shark it was huge!
Those were the days.

Great website Wasps
Played for the club when we only had 2 teams (The Wasps and Hornets)and shared the St Benets school pitch. If only Stan Gruchy could see the club now. Keep up the good work.
